This book was an easy read with interesting characters. Philo has to cope with the death of his father and the changes that brings to his family and his life. One brother joins the Israelites. One brother joins the Romans and Philo is caught in the middle. Luckily the man his father saved in the desert before he died is there to comfort and encourage Philo as he transitions from boyhood to manhood in a world a lot of us Americans can barely comprehend.
